This striking labradorite eye cuff bracelet features a beautiful round gemstone with an extraordinary electric-blue flash.

I handcrafted the bracelet using solid bare copper wire, combining several intricate weaving techniques with flowing decorative scrollwork.

The labradorite sits within an elegant eye-shaped setting. Meanwhile, the surrounding copper weaves create a rich frame around the stone.

Finally, I antiqued the copper to bring out every detail and give the bracelet its beautiful aged appearance.

The result is a bold piece of handmade jewellery inspired by nature, mystery and traditional craftsmanship.

Labradorite is famous for its remarkable flashes of colour, known as labradorescence.

Although the gemstone can appear dark from certain angles, movement and light reveal its hidden brilliance.

This particular stone displays an incredible electric-blue flash, with darker areas that add depth and contrast.

Its shifting colours make every glance a little different.

According to a popular legend associated with Labrador, the Northern Lights were once trapped inside the rocks.

When a warrior struck the stone, much of the light escaped into the sky. However, some remained within the rock.

That hidden light is said to explain the beautiful colours of labradorite.

It's a lovely story for a gemstone that seems to hold its own little universe.

In modern crystal folklore, labradorite is often known as the Stone of Transformation.

People traditionally associate it with several symbolic properties:

For this cuff, I wanted the copper wirework to frame the labradorite in an elegant eye-shaped design.

Decorative scrolls add movement and character. In addition, the detailed weaving gives the setting texture and depth.

The finished design has a slightly ancient, mystical appearance without losing its natural elegance.

I created this bracelet using solid bare copper wire, rather than copper-plated wire.

Several different weaving patterns form the band and gemstone setting.

Fine woven sections frame the labradorite. Meanwhile, decorative scrolls and curls flow along the sides of the cuff.

Each technique adds its own texture to the finished piece.

Once the wirework was complete, I antiqued the copper to deepen its colour and highlight the intricate details.

This darker finish creates a beautiful contrast against the gemstone's brilliant blue flash.

As a result, the labradorite becomes the centre of attention.
