Handmade Remembrance Poppy Brooch | Copper Wire & Red Beads

A flower of remembrance, created with care, gratitude and respect.

This beautiful handmade Remembrance poppy brooch combines intricate copper wirework with a collection of rich red beads.

Each petal features a different arrangement of red glass beads, creating depth, texture and subtle variations in colour.

At the centre, black beads provide the traditional dark heart of the poppy.

Below the flower, delicate copper leaves and flowing wirework complete the design. A single red bead hangs beneath the petals, representing a symbolic drop of blood.

I created this brooch as a personal tribute to those who have lost their lives in conflict, and to everyone affected by war.

The red poppy has become one of the most recognised symbols of remembrance.

Following the First World War, poppies grew across battle-scarred landscapes in parts of Europe.

Their appearance inspired the famous poem In Flanders Fields, written by Canadian military doctor John McCrae in 1915.

Today, the red poppy honours those who have served and sacrificed their lives in conflict.

It also reminds us of the importance of remembrance, compassion and hope for a peaceful future.

This handmade brooch takes inspiration from that tradition while offering a distinctive interpretation of the remembrance flower.

I handcrafted this poppy using solid bare copper wire and a mixture of traditional wire wrapping techniques.

Eame catch the light with brilliant flashes of red. Others provide deeper tones, giving the petals a layered appearance.

Meanwhile, black beads form the centre of the flower, creating a striking contrast against the surrounding red.

Fine copper scrolls flow throughout the design, connecting the individual petals.

One of the most meaningful details of this brooch is the small red bead hanging beneath the flower.

Suspended from a delicate copper loop, it represents a single drop of blood.

This detail serves as a quiet tribute to the human cost of war.

The copper leaves and flowing stem complete the design, bringing together the beauty of the poppy and the meaning behind it.

Every part of this brooch has been individually shaped and assembled by hand.

The Poppy Appeal raises funds to support serving and former members of the Armed Forces community and their families.
