Multi Layer Labradorite Choker Necklace

This multi layer labradorite choker necklace is handmade using bare copper wire and bare brass wire. I combine several wire working techniques and weaves to create a layered design with texture, movement, and visual balance.

First, I build the choker using multiple layers of shaped and hammered wire. These layers sit comfortably around the neck while creating depth and structure. Throughout the design, I add labradorite beads that bring soft flashes of blue and grey as the necklace moves.

At the centre, I incorporate a detachable pendant made with two labradorite cabochons. I wrap each stone by hand using copper wire, shaping the frame to highlight the natural flash and character of the labradorite. Because labradorite changes with the light, the pendant reveals new colours as you move.

The detachable design allows you to wear the necklace in different ways. You can wear the full piece as a statement choker, or you can remove the larger pendant and wear it separately. As a result, this necklace offers versatility without sacrificing craftsmanship or style.

The overall design draws inspiration from boho and Native American influences, using layered elements, earthy metals, and natural stones. The warm tones of copper and brass contrast beautifully with the cool flashes of labradorite, creating a grounded yet striking look.

Finally, I finish each element by hand to preserve the texture of the wire and the organic feel of the materials. Since I make every necklace individually, small variations ensure that each piece is truly one of a kind.
