Brazilian Emerald Copper Wire Wrapped Necklace

This Brazilian emerald copper wire wrapped necklace is a bold statement piece, handmade entirely from solid bare copper wire. I design this necklace to showcase both the natural beauty of the emerald and the depth that detailed wirework can achieve.

At the centre of the pendant sits a natural oval Brazilian emerald cabochon. I wrap this stone using a Tree of Life bonsai inspired wire design, allowing the branches to grow organically across the surface of the gemstone. This central tree represents growth, renewal, and connection, while also securing the stone in a visually striking way.

Around the outer edge of the emerald, I channel set green Swarovski pointed-back chatons. These crystals add sparkle and depth while framing the emerald and enhancing its natural colour. At the base of the design, I set a vintage green Swarovski crystal using a hand-formed prong setting made from copper wire, creating a strong focal accent at the bottom of the pendant.

In addition, I build layers of detail around the edge using a wide range of wire wrapping techniques. These include structured weaves, decorative coils, and flowing wire paths. Together, these techniques create a rich, textured border that gives the pendant depth, movement, and a powerful visual presence. As a result, the necklace has a dense, heady wrap that feels both intricate and intentional.

Above the pendant, I handweave the copper bale to echo the textures and patterns found throughout the piece. Finally, I antique and polish the copper by hand. This process darkens the recessed areas while highlighting the raised wire, bringing out the full complexity of the design. Because each necklace is handmade, this piece is truly one of a kind.
